Hunting and recreation on private lands has become big business across the U.S., and this is especially true of the West. Multiple Use Managers is proud to have been part of this evolution. In the early 1960's Wayne was a pioneer in proving that wildlife management can be an important segment of ranch operations. Both Wayne and his son Gordon have wildlife degrees and Gordon is a Certified Wildlife Biologist. Wayne and Gordon have dedicated their professional careers to helping landowners decide if wildlife and recreation can become an integral part of their ranch's future. If the potential is there, we go to work in developing short and long term action plans that will bring in additional income while also improving habitat conditions and wildlife populations. We work closely with many types of landowners, including livestock ranchers, farmers, timber and energy companies, and utility districts.
There are also many new landowners who bought their ranch with wildlife in mind, and want our expertise to realize their dreams. Though landowners realize they don't own free-ranging wildlife, they are getting more cognizant that if you work with the habitat, the wildlife will favorably respond. Many state wildlife departments are seeing this increased interest of landowners in wildlife and have established programs that give incentives to those who help the habitat and therefore help the state's wildlife species. We have written dozens of management plans for landowners across the West, though we have focused our efforts in states that have state sponsored private land programs, notably California, Utah, and Colorado. We only see this upward trend of managing wildlife on private lands continuing. We are excited about meeting this increased demand.
Property owners and sportsmen need to understand that as private landowners work toward improving habitats on their lands, our nation's wildlife populations are going to prosper. We know quality wildlife management is attainable, but it does take effort, patience, and expertise. So much can be accomplished if a landowner is committed to a long-term program.
In most cases, plans focus on improving forage and water availability for the targeted species. Sometimes herd management can also play an important role in a management scheme. Since every piece of ground is unique, we customize each action plan to take this into account . MUM has the ability and experience to assist those who want to incorporate a wildlife program into their operations. In the long run, quality management and better habitat helps everyone-- the landowner, the wildlife, the land, and potentially, the paying client.
Call us for an initial wildlife management consultation with no further obligation. We are confident that we can accurately determine the potential of your resources. If you are serious about the wildlife on your land, we can help.
