WELCOME to MUM Wildlife
We appreciate you taking some time to get some information about MUM and what we offer. Multiple Use Managers is an interesting company. Most people know us as outfitters of fine big game hunts, but we pride ourselves in being a full-service wildlife management firm as well.
In 2007, we started booking high quality trips for outfitters who share our views on how hunts need to be conducted for long-term success. It is true that we are best known for our highly successful hunting operations, such as Santa Rosa Island and Dye Creek Preserve, but these operations only touch the surface about our approach to resource and recreation management.
A large reason why we have quality hunting operations is because we take an active role in actually working with the herds and the habitat that inhabit these private ranches. This is another factor that sets us apart from many outfitters-we offer high quality,-low pressure trips exclusively on large, private ranches across the West.
To us, this way to do business seems pretty plain and straight-forward, but when Wayne started up this wildlife hunting/management model in 1961, it was a novel idea, especially in our native state of California. Since then managing private lands for wildlife has gained popularity, nevertheless, we believe MUM is still a driving force of innovation on how to best help landowners manage wildlife on their land and profit from these activities.
MUM is still headed by founder Wayne Long, but his son Gordon has followed in his father's footsteps, and after working for MUM full-time for 20 years, he is now in charge of most of the programs MUM is involved in. Let's put it this way-- Wayne, while being 70 years young, still loves to pack out elk and deer on his back while on Santa Rosa Island, but the day-to-day stuff is shouldered by Gordon. Both Wayne and Gordon have degrees in biology and Gordon is also a Certified Wildlife Biologist. If you are looking for outstanding hunting or fishing opportunities or professional wildlife management and consulting, you may have hit pay dirt.
